I could be wrong, but the look suggests Tyer's involvent in the 60's Canadian Rankin-Bass/Crawler Films production, The Tales of The Wizard of Oz ("There's three sad souls, oh me, oh my..."), although animators are not specifically credited in the series. You can see it mostly in the Munchkins and the Wicked Witch Of The West, but the Wizard, Socrates and Dandy Lion (voiced by JJJ himself. Paul Kligman). Several episodes can be found on YouTube.

I was in the audience at that oration, this was during the time I attended Sheridan. There was a lot to learn from Mr. Culhane, especially about having an attitude that keeps you enjoying your career no matter how miserable the conditions get. He looked back at everything in his life with such a humorous light that it was a sheer pleasure to listen to.

Oh yes, and the comments like that last one were always appreciated too.

I was fortunate to have attended then- two of our regular instructors were Zack Schwartz and Jim McAuley... being able to learn from two of the 'golden agers' was a fantastic opportunity.

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened to Betty if she could have lasted another couple of years, when the code restrictions were relaxed for World War II and stuff like Avery's Red was allowed into theaters.

From what I read, Shamus' (one-time) father-in-law Chico Marx was not too fond of him.
